  • Caleb AugustCaleb August28 Jul 20252.2My experience at ME Coworking has been extremely disappointing. 1. The Space: The coworking area is essentially a small, windowless room that feels more like a storage closet than a workspace. It houses around 12–14 desks, each approximately 2 feet wide. The chairs are low quality and not ergonomic, making long hours uncomfortable. A single phone call becomes disruptive to everyone else in the room. 2. Management Practices: While the management was friendly and accommodating before I signed up, their behavior changed dramatically when a conflict arose. I brought a desktop crypto miner to my desk — a standard piece of equipment in my line of work in the cryptocurrency industry. I reviewed all the original contract terms and policies provided to me before signing up, and found nothing that prohibited this. However, after noticing the device, ME Coworking abruptly terminated my contract. They justified it by referencing revised terms — not those I originally agreed to — and refused to refund the remaining days I had already paid for. Additionally, I had a separate rental agreement for a monitor, for which I paid a deposit, and that equipment was taken without any discussion or reimbursement. When I inquired about getting my deposit back, I was told: "We’re not giving it back. You can get a lawyer if you want." It's also worth noting that since I joined, the cost of a coworking desk increased by 50%. It’s hard to shake the feeling that they simply wanted to remove me in order to replace me with someone willing to pay the higher price. As a foreigner, this has put me in an incredibly difficult position — I now have no choice but to pursue legal action. If you’re considering coworking spaces in Mérida — especially if you’re not fluent in Spanish — I strongly recommend choosing a different space. There are plenty of better-run, similarly priced options available.Max De Bourg31 Jul 2025LEGAL NOTICE – ME Coworking To Whom It May Concern: As the legal counsel for ME Coworking, I hereby notify you that civil, criminal, and administrative legal proceedings have been formally initiated against U.S. citizen, based on the following documented and substantiated facts: 1. Gender-Based Violence and Discriminatory Conduct The individual engaged in verbal and psychological abuse directed at female staff members, coupled with discriminatory behavior towards personnel who do not speak English, despite being fully aware of operating in a foreign country and a multicultural environment. These actions are the subject of a formal complaint under the General Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence and are under active investigation by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Yucatán. 2. Attempted Misappropriation of Property and Unlawful Forced Entry The individual engaged in the attempted misappropriation of a monitor belonging to ME Coworking, an act fully documented in inventory records and security footage. Furthermore, after the lawful termination of his contract and despite being scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. appointment, he attempted to use a deactivated access code and, upon failing, unlawfully entered the premises by bypassing security through the restaurant area and forcing entry without authorization. This conduct constitutes unlawful entry into a restricted-access facility, prosecutable under the Criminal Code of the State of Yucatán, and is now part of the ongoing civil and criminal case file. 3. Operation of Prohibited High-Risk Equipment – Active Criminal Investigation It has been conclusively established that the individual introduced and operated cryptocurrency mining hardware within the premises, an act that is strictly forbidden in any coworking space within the city due to: Electrical Hazard: Severe circuit overloads and significant fire risk. Cybersecurity Threat: Exposure and potential compromise of the shared network and confidential client data. Irregular Power Consumption: Disruption to the facility’s operational stability and infrastructure. This constitutes a material breach of contract, a flagrant violation of internal safety protocols, and a critical infraction under shared workspace operational standards, comparable to bringing hazardous or dangerous materials into a secured environment. A formal criminal investigation is ongoing regarding the intended use of such devices, as there are strong indications that illegal activities may have been conducted within the facility, jeopardizing the security of sensitive data, private networks, and third-party property. 4. Active Legal and Administrative Proceedings The following actions are currently in progress: Gender-based violence charges (General Law). Civil claim for property damage. Criminal prosecution for attempted misappropriation of property and unlawful entry (Criminal Code of Yucatán). Claim for moral and material damages (Article 1916, Federal Civil Code). Administrative complaint filed with PROFECO for breach of contract and consumer protection violations. All evidence has been thoroughly documented, supported by notarized internal reports and multiple video surveillance recordings. Formal Warning ME Coworking will pursue all civil, criminal, and administrative remedies available under Mexican law to safeguard the integrity of its community and reputation. Given that this matter involves a foreign national engaged in violent, unlawful, and high-risk activities within Mexican territory, we reserve the right to escalate the case to federal authorities and Mexican immigration services, as well as to formally notify the U.S. Consulate of the individual’s ongoing civil and criminal proceedings. Respectfully, Lic. Pedro Miranda Legal Counsel – ME Coworking
